The person creating the fake page simply copies a legitimate email from a well known company. All it takes are a couple tricks and changes in the code of the email. Many of these codes can be found with basic internet searches, too! After it is distributed, unknowing recipients reply to this unofficial email and the fraud artist has everything they need.

The final thing that makes internet marketing useful is because it is very cheap. There are many sites where you can obtain a free email address and won’t ask to identify yourself. Also, it doesn’t cost much to simply be your own webmaster. Using the same process as above, one can replicate a legitimate website.

Legitimate marketers will use cost-benefit analysis to determine if it is worth it to use mass internet marketing to sell a product. This is another thing that scammers don’t have to worry about, since the email address they obtained is absolutely free. Furthermore, mass emails can be sent using cheap downloadable programs found online. This would also save time.

Since a bunch of emails can be sent in a short time, practically for free, it only takes about one percent of people to respond to the false emails for the scammer to make money. Problems have arisen within real companies because people have become so used to these scam emails that they won’t even glance at the legitimate emails from their company.

In conclusion, charlatans and scam artists litter the internet with marketing scams more densely than other media because internet scams are easy, cheap, and require little (or no) training or special knowledge.
